Miners’ Dispensary has been part of Wonthaggi since 1922, founded by the mining community itself. In those early years, local miners contributed a portion of their wages to establish the Dispensary so they and their families could access affordable medicines and essential healthcare. It was a service built on solidarity, care, and the belief that good health should never be out of reach.
More than 100 years later, that founding spirit still guides us. As a not-for-profit organisation, we remain committed to putting people before profit. Every decision we make is focused on supporting the health and wellbeing of our community—whether that’s through accessible pricing, personalised advice, or reinvesting back into the services we provide.
Today, Miners’ Dispensary has grown into a modern pharmacy, offering prescriptions, vaccinations, health programs, and professional advice delivered by a team who genuinely care. Many of our staff live locally and share the same sense of community connection as those miners who first built the Dispensary.

Today we offer these services to everyone in our community. You don't have to be a member to shop with us, but our members do get a 10% discount on most products and access to many other health benefits.
